Sabrina Gaydos' Biography
As a third-generation artist and the daughter of a chemist dedicated to cancer research, Sabrina Gaydos believes that her purpose is to raise the conscience of the general public. Through her art she hopes to generate awareness about the environment and the physical and spiritual condition of all living things.
Her father, Tim Gaydos, and grandparents, the late Lili and John Gaydos are all accomplished painters in New York, New Jersey, Maine and Vermont. Her late mother, Maria Costell-Gaydos devoted her life to cancer research, was the founder of genetic-biofeedback and the author of “The Theory of Natural Systems” which explores the possibilities and success of self-healing. From these roots was born Gaydos’ concerns for the environment and how those living in it are affected.
In 1988 Gaydos graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. with a bachelor’s degree in fine art and psychology. Her last year of school was spent studying abroad at L’Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris and at L’Ecole De La Castre in Cannes, France. Her artistic education is a work in progress, Gaydos says, and one she believes will last a lifetime.
Gaydos’ work has received numerous awards, both in and out of school. Included among her admirers is the late author, musician and playwright Shel Silverstein, who commissioned Gaydos to do his portrait when she resided in Key West, Florida. Her work is sold through private art representation in the United States and Europe.
